Rift Crew change log
Every change that reaches main, newest first. Versions are Alpha 0.MAJOR.HOTFIX: a hotfix (a small fix to the live game) bumps the last number; a major version (0.3.0, built up and released together) the middle one. The game shows its version and serves this page at /changelog; each version that reaches main is tagged and published as a GitHub Release (.github/workflows/changelog.yml). Every pull request to main adds its lines under the top version.
0.2.0 (2026-11-06)
A full wipe: everyone starts fresh (a copy of 0.1.0 is archived, and the Privacy Policy says so).
New
- World sets and builds. Every world, planet and the Void Rift has its own gear set (weapon, helmet, chest, legs, gadget) and ship set for each build: Dodge, Striker, Tank, Medic and Luck (Fortune). Three pieces give the set's bonus, three rare or better its ability (Blur, Overdrive, Bulwark, Mending Pulse, Jackpot on foot; Slipstream, Broadside, Hardlight Shields, Nanite Field, Salvage Magnet in space), all five rare or better make you glow.
- Raids that keep going. Missions run back to back with a 15-second break showing the results, until the Captain stops. Join in the break (or mid-mission, for the next one). Leave anytime, free: at the end of the sector with everything you found, or at once without this mission's finds. A Captain who leaves hands over at random. The raid stops by itself when someone's hold is full and finds are being thrown away.
- Auto-repair or Manual, picked when you start or join a raid.
- Threat 0 to 100, per pilot and mission type: it follows how the crew does and adds twists at high Threat (reinforcements, ambushes, sabotage, elites); ship fights have their own Ship Threat.
- Luck as a percentage: more loot rolls (up to 3.5 a sector) and a chance a find comes a rarity higher (up to epic).
- World Marks and smart loot: every mission earns that world's Marks; pin a set and buy its missing pieces (ship parts for credits); drops fill your pinned set's gaps.
- The cargo hold: random finds that sell for credits.
- Void Enhancement at level 25: gear and ship parts up to +10, for credits and Void Shards from the Rift.
- Rift sets and guardian loot in the Void Rift; a wipe there keeps half of what you found.
- Varied enemy waves, sometimes led by an elite.
- Names under every unit in fights, coloured by build; yours in bold.
- Decisions in the middle of the screen with a 3-second countdown.
- Feedback page: two weeks of test feedback on these changes, then a page to report issues.
- This change log, and the game's version shown in the game.
Changed
- No crafting, blueprints, materials, tuning, salvage or selling equipment: spare gear is discarded.
- Each level takes more missions (each world lasts longer), but with raids that keep going there's little waiting: level 25 is about 60 hours of play (about 50 solo, 70 in a big crew).
- Deadlier ship fights (about 14% of crew raids lose a ship, 9% solo).
- Armor softens poison (half as much as a hit); a ship's burst hits shields first.
- The Collection counts the world sets; the older sets sit under Older finds.
Fixed
- Security hardening: tighter limits on connections, leaderboards and Discord lookups; names can't add links to the bot's posts; one slow connection can't hold up a room; a stricter browser security policy; the browser version only for its testers; quieter server logs; server admins' action logs kept 90 days.
0.1.0 (2026-10-21)
The game as it ran until 0.2.0, archived on GitHub as v0.1.0.
- A Discord Activity for crews of up to 12, and a browser version with Discord sign-in.
- Space raids (ship fights, boarding, a capital-ship boss), Planetfall missions with an orbital strike, and the endless Void Rift, across eight worlds.
- Four classes, crafting from blueprints and materials, tuning, salvage and selling; armor sets, legendary perks and role items; the Shipyard with ship styles.
- The Station: expeditions, contracts, the Arena, the casino.
- Crews that stay together between missions, Live games from other channels, public lobbies and invite links.
- Leaderboards, the Hall of Fame and the Collection.
